Vibrations of cracked functionally graded beams: General solution and application – A review

چکیده

This paper presents a unified approach to vibration analysis of functionally graded beams with transverse open-edge cracks based on the so-called shape obtained as general solution equations in frequency domain. The crack is modeled by pair translational and rotational springs stiffness computed from depth dependence upon material parameters. frequency-dependent functions allow one not only obtain closed-form both free forced vibrations for multiple cracked FGM but also develop well-known methods such Transfer Matrix Method or Dynamic Stiffness framed structures. proposed theoretical developments have been illustrated their application modal response multi-span multistep beams.

Thermal Buckling of Functionally Graded Beams

In this article, thermal stability of beams made of functionally graded material (FGM) is considered. The derivations of equations are based on the one-dimensional theory of elasticity. The material properties vary continuously through the thickness direction. Tanigawa's model for the variation of Poisson's ratio, the modulus of shear stress, and the coefcient of thermal expansion is considered...

Review of Sandwich Beams with Functionally Graded Core

An elasticity solution is obtained for a sandwich beam with a functionally graded core subjected to transverse loads. The sandwich is subdivided into four elements, the top and bottom face-sheets, and top and bottom halves of the sandwich core. Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is used to model the face-sheets and plane elasticity equations are used to analyze the core. The Young’s modulus of the cor...

Buckling Behaviors of Symmetric and Antisymmetric Functionally Graded Beams

The present study investigates buckling characteristics of both nonlinear symmetric power and sigmoid functionally graded (FG) beams. The volume fractions of metal and ceramic are assumed to be distributed through a beam thickness by the sigmoid-law distribution (S-FGM), and the symmetric power function (SP-FGM). These functions have smooth variation of properties across the boundary rather tha...

A review of functionally graded thick cylindrical and conical shells

Thick shells have attracted much attention in recent years as intelligent and functional graded materials because of their unique properties. In this review paper, some critical issues and problems in the development of thick shells made from Functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) are discussed. This review has been conducted on various types of methods which are available for thick ...
